- Doc Reader by Kjell Irgens / Ultima Thule Software
- ==========================================================================
-
- I made this tiny freeware program to ease the use of Workbench 2.0, and
- to make the workbench windows a bit more tidy. As we all know, the
- .doc.info files tend to use a lot of space on the workbench screen,
- especially if you don't have a 3000/4000 or a flicker fixer.
-
- Now you can delete those .doc.info / .man.info files for good! And you
- can have your docs stored in a single dir, while still being easily
- reachable from WB!
-
-
-
- How does DocReader work?
- -------------------------
-
- DocReader opens a so calle Appicon on the Workbench screen. Files are
- specified by dropping them on this icon.
-
- DocReader works by searching the directory of the specified application for
- corresponding files with .guide/.doc/.man/.readme/.docs/.txt prefix and
- then uses the right viewer to show the manual file.
-
- If no such file is found, it opens the viewer with the file you put on
- DocReader; i.e. you can place textfiles and guidefiles directly on the
- Appicon if you wish.
-
- if you place a drawer on top of the icon, DocReader calls MANVIEWER with
- the directory name as argument.
-
-
-
- How do I start DocReader?
- --------------------------
-
- Move the DocReader to the sys:WBstartup drawer or double click on the
- DocReader icon. DocReader can't be started from CLI.
-
-
-
- Icon tooltypes
- ---------------
-
- MANVIEWER - file viewer to use for regular docs
- GUIDEVIEVER - file viewer for Amigaguide (tm) style documents
- MANPATH - (optional) path where you store document files
- GUIDEPATH - (optional) path where you store AmigaGuide
- ICON_XPOS
- ICON_YPOS - (optional) The appicon's position on the Workbench screen.

-
-
-
- Planned enhancements:

- Support for more filetypes
- Handle of multiple assigns in DOCPATH/GUIDEPATH
-
-
